A las afueras de El Alto en La Paz, Bolivia, las cholitas regresaron al ring luego de las restricciones por la pandemia de Covid-19

Las luchadoras indígenas se han convertido en un símbolo del poder de las mujeres en el país y en el exterior, reivindicando el término peyorativo español “chola” utilizado para los grupos indígenas y haciéndolo con orgullo parte de su herencia y fortaleza.

Las cholitas luchadoras de Bolivia están regresando al ring después de que las icónicas pugilistas se vieron obligadas a colgar sus faldas onduladas y sus bombines debido a la pandemia de COVID-19.

Golpeadas por la pandemia, las cholitas luchadoras ahora regresan después de una pausa de nueve meses, pero enfrentan un desafío continuo con la lucrativa multitud de turistas que aún no asisten a los combates.

Antes de la pandemia fueron un patrimonio cultural no reconocido porque los turistas de todo el mundo venían a ver exclusivamente la lucha libre de las cholitas luchadoras
