Las autoridades instaron a los residentes de la isla griega de Samos a mantenerse alejados de las zonas costeras
Un fuerte sismo sacudió el viernes el mar Egeo y se sintió en Grecia y Turquía, donde algunos edificios colapsaron en la provincia costera de Izmir, informaron autoridades.
La gente inundó las calles de la ciudad turística de Izmir, dijeron testigos, después de que el terremoto de magnitud 7,0 azotara la región.
El ministro del Interior turco, Suleyman Soylu, dijo en Twitter que seis edificios se derrumbaron en dos distritos de la provincia de Izmir. Agregó que no hay reportes de víctimas de otras seis provincias donde se sintió el terremoto, aunque sostuvo que se veían grietas en algunas construcciones.
El Servicio Geológico de Estados Unidos dijo que el sismo tuvo una intensidad de 7,0 y que el movimiento se produjo a 33,5 kilómetros del litoral turco. Minutos antes, la agencia estatal de emergencias turca AFAD reportó el temblor de magnitud 6,6 con epicentro en el mar, a unos 17 kilómetros de la costa de la provincia de Izmir, a una profundidad de 16 kilómetros.
El sismo fue percibido en toda la costa turca del Mar Egeo y en la región noroccidental de Marmara, informaron medios locales.
Las autoridades instaron a los residentes de la isla griega de Samos, que tiene una población de aproximadamente 45.000 habitantes, a mantenerse alejados de las zonas costeras, dijo Eftyhmios Lekkas, director de la organización griega para la planificación antisísmica. “Fue un terremoto muy grande, es difícil tener uno mayor”, agregó.
