¡Kansas City Chiefs derrota a Los Angeles Chargers en tierra azteca!

Kansas City Chiefs vence en el Estadio Azteca a Los Angeles Chargers como parte del cierre de la semana once de la temporada 100 de la NFL.

En un partido en el que prevalecieron los errores, pero también hubo emociones, Jefes de Kansas City se quedó con el triunfo 24-17 sobre Cargadores de Los Ángeles, en acciones de la semana 11 de la Liga Nacional de Futbol Americano (NFL).

  Ante más de 75 mil espectadores, la “tribu” ganó su segundo partido en México, el primero oficial y en el Coloso de Santa Úrsula, para seguir líder de la División Oeste de la Conferencia Americana con récord de 7-4, mientras los “bolts” se quedaron en el mismo sector con marca de 4-7.

Chargers comenzó con el ovoide en su poder y en su primera serie de nueve jugadas Michael Badgley hizo gol de campo de 27 yardas para el 3-0 favorable para los angelinos.

Al mariscal de campo Patrick Mahomes le costó el comienzo del partido, si bien tuvo uno que otro acarreo, todavía no explotaba las credenciales que le valieron el nombramiento de Jugar Más Valioso (MVP) de la campaña anterior, lo que esperaba con entusiasmo la afición en México.

En sus tres primeros drives, “Pat” no generó a la ofensiva e incluso sufrió una intercepción en un mejor inicio de partido para Cargadores, mismo que Rivers y compañía no aprovecharon, pues el “17” de Los Ángeles también firmó dos malas entregas y Badgley falló un gol de campo que pudo ampliar la diferencia.

Bolts perdonó y precisamente de la segunda intercepción del partido para Rivers, que ganó el defensivo de Kansas, Tyrann Mathieu, llegó el primer touchdown para la remontada de Chiefs 7-3, tras un acarreo de seis yardas de LeSean McCoy.

La respuesta de Cargadores fue corta, Rivers fracasó en zona prometida en dos ocasiones para que su escuadra nada más consiguiera dos goles de campo de Badgley, mientras Jefes logró también tres puntos, por parte de Harrison Butker, para el 10-9 antes del descanso favorable a los del head coach Andy Reid.

En el arranque del tercer cuarto, Kansas City se encaminó al triunfo, luego que en su primer drive de nueve jugadas y 75 yardas puso las cosas 17-9 con el segundo touchdown terrestre, ahora por parte de Darrel Williams.

En la siguiente serie, a Los Ángeles le duró poco tiempo el ovoide en su poder para regresarlo rápido a Mahomes, quien concretó su único pase de anotación de la noche, que fue para Travis Kelce y que valió para el 24-9. El ala cerrada de Jefes alcanzó esta noche 450 recepciones y seis mil yardas en su trayectoria para imponer récord de la franquicia.

Si Mahomes había despertado, Rivers no se quedó atrás e hizo lo propio para meter de lleno en el partido a los californianos en su siguiente drive, eso sí con algo de fortuna.

Mathieu tuvo su segunda intercepción de la noche pero el ovoide se le escurrió de las manos de forma increíble, para un pase incompleto de Cargadores. Tras ese error, Rivers se concentró y acabó por enviar su pase de anotación, para Keenan Allen y con la confianza a tope, los “bolts” se jugaron la conversión de dos puntos, que los revivió con el 24-17.

Luego de series que acabaron en despeje por parte de los dos equipos, Rivers padeció su tercera intercepción del encuentro, obra de Rashad Fenton con 4:10 en el reloj, por lo que los angelinos necesitaban de un milagro para empatar el juego, mismo que no llegó.

Jefes le quemó 2:20 al reloj y tras la pausa de los dos minutos Rivers y Mike Williams le pusieron emoción al juego con un lance de 50 yardas y la atrapada de la noche de Williams, pero luego todo se desmoronó con la cuarta intercepción del quarterback de Chargers, para que Chiefs se hiciera de la victoria en el Azteca.
