Hace unos momentos Donald Trump, presidente de los Estados Unidos, fue dado de alta del Hospital Militar Walter Reed donde permanecía internado desde el pasado viernes luego de dar positivo a Covid-19.

De acuerdo con los informes médicos, el mandatario recibirá el resto del tratamiento en la Casa Blanca.

A través de un mensaje de Twitter, Trump confirmó que saldría del nosocomio, regresaría a la campaña presidencial y seguiría su recuperación en la Casa Blanca a donde fue trasladado a bordo de un helicóptero. “Las noticias falsas solo muestran las encuestas falsas”, expresó.

Su equipo médico le administró esteroide dexametasona, que habitualmente se emplea en pacientes con síntomas más graves de COVID-19.

Su doctor Sean P. Conley dijo que cumplió o excedió todos los criterios estándar del hospital para ser dado de alta y, aunque todavía no está fuera de peligro, puede irse a casa.

“En las últimas 24 horas (...) cumplió o superó todos los criterios estándar de alta hospitalaria”, pronunció en rueda de prensa.

“Aunque es posible que aún no esté completamente fuera de peligro, el equipo y yo estamos de acuerdo en que todas nuestras evaluaciones, y lo más importante, su estado clínico, respaldan el regreso seguro del presidente a casa, donde estará rodeado de atención médica de clase mundial 24/7", agregó.

Aislado en el Centro Médico Walter Reed en las afueras de Washington desde el viernes, Trump divulgó una serie de videos en un esfuerzo por dar garantías de su recuperación del COVID-19.

El domingo, también dejó su habitación en el hospital para ser trasladado en una caravana a fin de saludar a sus seguidores congregados fuera del centro médico. Vestido con una chaqueta de traje, camisa pero sin corbata y con una mascarilla, Trump realizaba su primera aparición pública desde el viernes.

Críticos y expertos médicos han denostado a Trump por esta decisión, que pudo haber expuesto a una infección al personal que lo trasladó en auto fuera del hospital.

Agencias internacionales informaron que tiene la intención de participar en el siguiente debate presidencial en la carrera por la presidencia al lado del demócrata Joe Biden.

Éste se realizará el 15 de octubre en Miami, según anunció el portavoz de su campaña, Tim Murtaugh.
